This is your friendly reminder that you don’t need golden hour for dreamy engagement photos! Dominique and Kevin’s Coronado Beach Engagement session wasn’t exactly what we planned for weather-wise. Instead, we were met with gloomier skies, but let these images show you why we weren’t the least bit upset!

Embracing Overcast to Elevate the Emotions
Weather can help elevate the feel and emotions within your photos. An overcast day can instantly add more dramatic tones to your sessions, adding to the story-telling feel. I always hope there’s a little breeze that helps with adding movement without having to do a thing. Let this be your reminder to not cancel/postpone your session because of the weather. You may be pleasantly surprised with the outcome!
Dominique and Kevin showed up to their session apprehensive about how their photos would turn out given the gloomy state of the weather that day. But we made magic!!! Take a look for yourself.
Allow yourself to soak in the surroundings
On days with less of the golden hour light, interacting with the environment around you can help bring it all together! For this Coronado Beach Engagement, we ran along the water, sat in the sand, and they loved up on one another as the sky surrounded them.
This is also a great example of why outfits are so important to be thought out. Because of the overcast, the colors of the location were slightly different. Thankfully these two had outfits that added that pop of color making it still so beautiful! I mean her dress is stunning, can we all agree!?

Something so wild about getting to work with this couple is that Kevin was deployed on the same carrier as my husband in 2022. Finding that little connection instantly helped me relate to Dominique and Kevin!
