Fun fact: This Utah elopement is actually a ten-year vow renewal for Hannah and Robbie! These two met in high school and got married right after graduating. Hearing their vows and learning about the life they’ve built together from such a young age was so special.

Pre-Elopement
We have spent almost two years planning this and after many hurdles and setbacks, it finally came together perfectly. I spent the day before the vow renewal location scouting to find the perfect spot for the ceremony and a surprise second location for more photos. March in Utah is usually experiencing the start of spring but I drove through a full-blown snow storm! Just to give you a reference, my California self was not prepared! Thankfully the weather cleared for their day and it was perfect.
Hannah is another photographer so I was extra nervous and wanted to make sure I nailed it. She sent me several inspo pictures, and I spent the morning going through everything she sent. I wanted to ensure I was ready to photograph her elopement in a way that aligned with my style but incorporated her vision. I think we nailed it!
What is a Vow Renewal?
A vow renewal is a small ceremony where a married couple reaffirms their commitment to one another. These kinds of ceremonies typically mimic the elopement setting due to how intimate they are. It’s such a beautiful event that is centered around people who have walked through life together and now their old vows may need updating!
Are there rules to a vow renewal?
Nope!! If you are wondering if you need an officiant for the renewal, the answer is no you don’t! They’re purely symbolic and catered to be exactly what you want them to be. Some couples have done a more intimate ceremony for their renewal. Others, have gone bigger and had the wedding of their dreams!
